Despite its impressive album sales, the singles taken from Young’s sixth studio album ‘85% Proof’ haven’t quite left as much impact as the former Idols winner would have expected. But there’s still plenty of hope as Will has confirmed the upcoming new single, to be album opener ‘Brave Man’.
A video teaser of the Jim Eliot, Jemima Stillwell and Young co-written track was uploaded yesterday on Youtube with the announcement the full video is ready to go in premiere tomorrow, Monday October 19.
Will Young rose to fame as one of the first Idols winner franchises in 2001, and has build an impressive career with six albums to date.
The choice of the arousing orchestrated pop song as new single is bound to set the album campaign right back on track. Have a listen below:
Happy days for Will Young. The singer songwriter released his sixth studio album just a few weeks ago, with much success. 85% Proof, beat the Vaccines to the number one in the week of its release, so much much excitement in the Young camp.
Embarking on a 22-date tour later this year Young’s continuing his album campaign with the announcement of the arousing track ‘Thank You’ as his second single. The video, shot at London’s Porchester Baths and directed by Nick Bartleet (Rebecca Ferguson, Lawson, The Vamps), premiered Wednesday on the singer’s Youtube channel.
Thank You is emotionally very well captured, visually as lyrically, giving us plenty of reason to believe Thank You is set to be another glorified and successful piece of work in Will Young’s already impressive career to date. Thank you , Will Young!
For remix lovers out there, French producer Fred Falke also provided a remix for the track, which you can listen to here.
So what can the fans expect from the three new tracks ‘Brave Man’, ‘Joy’ and ‘Thank You’?
First track, on the album, ‘Brave Man’ is an epic symphonic pop song, which just keeps building and building. Think Markus Feehily’s upcoming #1 single, but shaped and twisted by Will Young and slightly darker.
Joy e.g. has a very uplifting, anthem feel to it. Think Mika versus Band Aid versus Paul McCartney and the Beatles.
Last but not least, Thank You, actually feels a bit of a continuation to ‘Joy’ in the respect that Will is absolutely channeling his inner Paul McCartney on an absolutely beautiful percussion and violin packed production. Not to mention the incredible vocal soloist who showcases her skills towards the end of the song.
The video, filmed in grey shades, is directed by the acclaimed filmmaker W.I.Z. who has worked previously with Disclosure and Katy B. The story board for ‘Like a River’ is a haunting yet powerful take on the legend of the Minotaur which sees Will enter the maze himself.
Already loving the direction, Will is heading into with his album. The lead single for his album, Love Generation, is in contrast to Like A River very difficult, so it will be interesting to see what other genres we can expect and how well they are to fit with the ‘85% Proof’ theme.
Will’s new album is out May 25. Check the new video below:
