Krajowe Eliminacje returns for the second year in a row as the format picking the Polish Eurovision candidate. Last night, the ten participating acts were announced.
Same formula, same success?
Last year’s format proved to be an unexpected success for Poland. Hopes of Polish fans were shattered when pre-contest favorite Margaret failed to convince. In Michał Szpak TVP found an unexpected winner for Stockholm. A surprising one but also an impressive one, as the singer achieved a very respectable eight place in the grand Eurovision Final. Needless to say, TVP hopes to achieve a similar, if not better result this year, in Kiev.
Originally, the Polish final was announced to be held this weekend, but due to a high demand of artists willing to take part, the submission period was extended, moving the event one week later.
Talent Show picks and Eurovision returnees
It’s only a small step from talent shows to Eurovision. Poland is no different. This year, contestants from a wide range of talent shows including Mam Talent, The Voice of Poland, and Idol are mixed up with established artists to showcase the public to their singing abilities.
Returnees are not excluded either. Martin Fitch, who represented Poland in 2010, is back for a second time. Should he get the ticket to Kiev, his aim will be to qualify for the first time. Check out his performance in 2010 below:
