It’s been 19 years since Israel last won the Eurovision Song Contest. All hopes rest on Imri Ziv’s shoulders, the brand, new winner of Israeli talent show ‘The Next Star’.
From The Voice to Eurovision.
In 2012 the singer caught attention with his voice on the first Israeli edition of The Voice, where he made it through to the battle rounds. 3 years later, Eurovision crossed his path for the first time. The 25-year-old singer lend a helping vocal hand for the last two Israeli contributions in the background. But now it’s Imri’s time at last to take the central stage and shine.
Since the introduction of ‘The Next Star’, two years ago, Israel has qualified for the grand final on both occasions. No pressure for Imri then.
Entry yet to be decided
We’ll still have a little wait before Imri’s song for Eurovision is to be unveiled. Contrary to last year, a song tailored to Imri’s voice is to be written and produced. So keep an eye out for a further Israeli announcement in the next few weeks.
While we wait for Imri’s Eurovision entry, here’s a little preview of his vocal abilities.
Uptempo, ballad this young man has it all. We can’t wait to find out what he’ll bring to the Eurovision Stage in Kiev. We’ll keep you posted.
